Is Death a reality, an illusion or both?

By Chitegetse A. Minanago Grief manifests differently for each person; some cry, others fall into deep melancholy or depression. This emotional response stems from the profound sense of loss, the gap left by a loved one’s passing which seems too painful to bear. In some societies, death is seen as the end of life, but what if we viewed it differently? How about we viewed it as a continuation or a new beginning? What if death is not the final end, but a transition to something beyond our comprehension? For some cultures, death is viewed as a passage, not the end. Could our essence, our consciousness, persist in ways we can’t yet grasp? When the body dies, physiologically speaking, does consciousness die along with it? Near-death experiences (NDEs), as we might have heard of, filled with light, peace, and encounters with loved ones, suggest there may be more to death than we realize. Can we take the insights from NDEs and rethink what death is? Let’s consider the beginning of life for a moment. For a plant to grow, it requires both living and dead cells nourished by nutrients from decomposing organic matter, even though it starts from a living seed. Something needs to die for a new life to prosper. Science tells us that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed. If we, too, are energy beings, could death simply be a transformation into another phase of existence? Think about it. What if we could know the exact moment of our death? Would it be terrifying or liberating? Throughout history, death has been feared and discussing it especially in our Tanzanian cultures has often been avoided. Some people would even be mad when one starts talking about death out in a blue, you’d hear them say “tuondolee uchuro,” which literally means spare us the bad omen. However, perhaps by embracing this inevitable transition, we could reduce our fear. If we knew that death wasn’t the end, would we live more boldly, love more deeply, and take more risks? Death’s mystery challenges us to live with curiosity and wonder, reshaping how we view life and legacy. Perhaps the full comprehension of death isn’t meant to be solved, but to inspire us to consider that what we call an end could be the beginning of something far greater. Perhaps, further research into life after death could provide the peace and understanding we need to embrace both as part of an ongoing cycle.

Hapa chini ni baadhi ya mbinu ambazo zinaweza kukusaidia kujijenga kisaikolojia kwa njia bora: 1. Kujitambua na Kujikubali Kujitambua ni hatua ya kwanza muhimu katika kujijenga kisaikolojia. Inahusisha kufahamu nguvu na udhaifu wako, kuelewa hisia zako, na kutambua mambo yanayoweza kukusababishia mfadhaiko au furaha. Kujikubali ni kukubali hali zako na kushukuru kwa kile ulicho nacho. Unapojikubali, unaondoa shinikizo la kuwa na sifa zisizo halisi au kulinganishwa na wengine. Mbinu: Tafuta muda wa faragha kila siku, fanya mazoezi ya kutafakari au kuandika hisia zako, na jitahidi kutambua mambo unayoyapenda na yale yasiyokufurahisha. 2. Kujijengea Uvumilivu wa Kiakili (Resilience) Uvumilivu wa kiakili ni uwezo wa kuhimili msongo wa mawazo, kushinda changamoto, na kuendelea kuwa na matumaini licha ya vikwazo. Kujenga uvumilivu huu kunakusaidia kuweza kustahimili changamoto za kila siku bila kuvunjika moyo. Mbinu: Jiwekee malengo ya muda mfupi na muda mrefu, jihusishe na shughuli za kujifunza kutoka kwa wengine na zenye changamoto mpya, na usichoke kushukuru kwa mafanikio madogo unayopata. 3. Kujifunza Kudhibiti Mawazo na Hisia Kudhibiti mawazo na hisia ni mbinu muhimu kwa kujijenga kisaikolojia. Wakati mwingine mawazo hasi au hisia za wasiwasi zinaweza kuchangia kudhoofisha uwezo wako wa kufanya maamuzi sahihi. Mbinu: Fanya mazoezi ya kupumua, kutafakari, au kuandika mawazo yako. Epuka kufikiria sana mambo yasiyoweza kubadilishwa, na badala yake zingatia yale yanayoweza kurekebishwa. 4. Kutunza Mahusiano na Mtandao wa Kijamii Mahusiano na watu unaowazunguka yana mchango mkubwa katika ustawi wa kisaikolojia. Marafiki na familia wanaweza kuwa msaada mkubwa wakati wa changamoto, na wanaweza pia kutoa mtazamo tofauti ambao unaweza kusaidia kujenga mawazo chanya. Mbinu: Jitahidi kuwasiliana na marafiki na familia mara kwa mara. Usihisi vibaya kuomba msaada au kutoa msaada pale inapohitajika. 5. Kujifundisha Kuwa na Mawazo Chanya Mawazo chanya yanaweza kubadili jinsi unavyokabiliana na changamoto na kuboresha mtazamo wako kuhusu maisha. Kufikiria vyema kunaweza pia kukuza mtazamo wa matumaini na kukusaidia kushinda hofu za kisaikolojia. Mbinu: Andika mambo mazuri unayokumbana nayo kila siku. Endelea kujikumbusha mafanikio yako na sababu ya kushukuru, hata katika changamoto. 7. Kufanya Mazoezi ya Kimwili na Kulinda Afya ya Mwili Afya ya mwili ina uhusiano mkubwa na afya ya akili. Mazoezi ya mwili huchochea utoaji wa homoni zinazosaidia kupunguza mfadhaiko na kuboresha hali ya hisia. Mbinu: Panga kufanya mazoezi ya mwili angalau mara tatu kwa wiki. Vilevile, jitahidi kupata usingizi wa kutosha na kula mlo kamili. 8. Kujifunza Kuweka Malengo na Kupanga Muda Vizuri Kuweka malengo ni njia bora ya kuelekea mafanikio binafsi. Unapoweka malengo unayoweza kufanikisha, unaimarisha hali ya kujitambua na kujitegemea. Mbinu: Weka malengo yanayoweza kufikiwa, panga ratiba ya kutimiza malengo hayo, na pima maendeleo yako mara kwa mara. 9. Kujifunza na Kukuza Maarifa Mapya Kujifunza ni njia bora ya kujikuza na kujijenga kisaikolojia. Unapojifunza jambo jipya, unachangia kujijenga na kujiimarisha kiakili kwa kuongeza uelewa na ufahamu wako. Mbinu: Jitahidi kusoma vitabu, kuhudhuria semina, au kushiriki mijadala inayokupa maarifa na mtazamo mpana zaidi wa maisha. 10. Kupata Msaada wa Kitaalamu Wakati mwingine msaada wa kisaikolojia wa kitaalamu ni muhimu, hasa ikiwa unakumbana na changamoto ambazo ni ngumu kuzishinda peke yako. Mbinu: Ikiwa unakumbana na hali kama vile mfadhaiko au wasiwasi unaoathiri maisha yako ya kila siku, usisite kutafuta msaada kutoka kwa wataalamu wa afya ya akili. Hivyo basi, kujijenga kisaikolojia ni safari ya muda mrefu inayohitaji uvumilivu, malengo, na kujitolea. Hata baada ya kulala kwa muda unaoonekana kuwa wa kutosha, watu wengi hukosa nguvu na wanakabiliwa na uchovu unaoathiri siku yao nzima. Hali hii inaweza kuhusishwa na sababu nyingi, zikiwemo za kiafya, kisaikolojia, na za mtindo wa maisha. Cleveland Clinic wameelezea baadhi ya sababu na njia za kuepuka kuamka mchovu au umechoka, na hatua za kushughulikia tatizo hili.  SABABU ZA KUAMKA UMECHOKA a) Ukosefu wa usingizi wa kina   Usingizi wa kina ni mojawapo ya awamu muhimu zaidi za usingizi. Ni wakati huu ambapo mwili unajirekebisha, seli zinajijenga upya, na mfumo wa kinga unaimarika. Ikiwa usingizi wa kina haupatikani, hata kama umelala kwa saa nyingi, unaweza bado kuhisi uchovu. Hali hii husababishwa na, matatizo ya kiafya kama vile apnea ya kulala (sleep apnea), ambapo njia za hewa hufungika na kusababisha mwili kushindwa kupumzika vyema. Kelele au mwanga mwingi unaokatiza usingizi wa usiku. Matumizi ya kafeini kama vile “Energy Drinks” au pombe kabla ya kulala, ambavyo vinaweza kuathiri ubora wa usingizi.  b) Ratiba mbaya ya kulala Mwili wa binadamu unategemea saa ya ndani inayojulikana kama circadian rhythm, ambayo inaelekeza muda wa kuamka na kulala. Ikiwa mtu anabadilisha muda wa kulala mara kwa mara au ana tabia ya kulala kuchelewa na kuamka mapema, mwili unakosa utulivu wa kibiolojia. Hii inaweza kusababisha kuamka ukiwa umechoka, hata kama ulilala kwa muda unaoonekana wa kutosha.  c) Msongo wa mawazo na hofu Msongo wa mawazo ni sababu kuu ya kuamka ukiwa mchovu. Wakati akili yako imezidiwa na mawazo mengi, mwili hutengeneza homoni za dharura kama cortisol. Hii huathiri ubongo na kuzuia mwili kuingia kwenye awamu ya usingizi wa kina. Pia, watu wenye mawazo mengi mara nyingi huamka usiku wakihisi wasiwasi, jambo linalozidisha uchovu.  d) Sababu za kiafya Magonjwa fulani yanaweza kuathiri uwezo wa mwili kupumzika vyema wakati wa usiku. Baadhi ya magonjwa haya ni:   2. NJIA ZA KUEPUKA KUAMKA UMECHOKA  a) Kuanzisha ratiba na mazingira bora ya kulala Mwili unajisikia vyema unapokuwa na ratiba ya kulala na kuamka thabiti. Hakikisha unalala na kuamka kwa wakati uleule kila siku, hata wikendi. Unda mazingira bora, ya kulala mazoezi ya kulala katika mazingira bora ni muhimu. Epuka mwanga mkali na kelele, vaa mavazi yanayofaa na hakikisha chumba chako kina joto linalofaa.  b) Punguza Msongo wa Mawazo Mbinu za kuepukana au kupunguza msongo wa mawazo zipo nyingi sana. Jifunze mbinu za kupunguza msongo wa mawazo kama vile kufanya mazoezi, kupumua kwa utulivu, kusoma vitabu au hata kusali.  e) Kula na kunywa kwa afya Lishe bora ina mchango mkubwa. Hakikisha unakula chakula chenye virutubishi muhimu na unakunywa maji ya kutosha ili kuepuka upungufu wa maji mwilini.  Nimalize kwa kusema, kuamka ukiwa umechoka ni dalili ya matatizo yanayohitaji kushughulikiwa kwa makini. Kwa kuelewa sababu za tatizo hili na kuchukua hatua thabiti, unaweza kuimarisha ubora wa maisha yako. Hakikisha usingizi wako unakuwa kipaumbele, kwani ni msingi wa afya bora, furaha, na uzalishaji wa kila siku.

Platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Facebook have become powerful tools for promoting plastic surgery services and showcasing before and after transformations. (American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 2023) Social media has become the number one method of advertising in plastic surgery, and that’s a big shift from the way that used to be. People that are social-media savvy, I think they position those very well to reach people about the services that they offer. To have a social media presence takes a lot of effort. You have to post things that are thoughtful, you have to post regularly, you have to have something that makes people want to see you again. So, it’s not just having a good before and after picture, it’s having something that can make you stand out from other people. And it’s a level of marketing creativity that is really different from the way it used to be. BEFORE YOU HAVE A COSMETIC PROCEDURE: If you’re thinking about having a cosmetic procedure, it’s important to do your research and find out about what will happen. All cosmetic procedures have some risks, whether you’re having a surgical procedure, like breast implants, or a non-surgical procedure, like dermal fillers or Botox. Body image issues, while cosmetic surgery aims to improve body image for many individuals, it may also exacerbate existing body image issues for some patients who might still feel self-conscious despite undergoing procedures. Lifestyle Changes:  Post-surgery recovery often can lead to the change of a patient’s lifestyle. Patients may need to limit physical activities during recovery periods, which can affect their daily routines and overall lifestyle. Ongoing care may be required after surgery to monitor healing and manage any complications that arise. This made a lot of people to change they way of living to copy with the existing circumstances. Social Considerations: The decision to undergo cosmetic surgery can have social ramifications. This create a picture to our mind that detoxification is very necessary and essential to our bodies. (Langenbrandt, 2023).  But in our world today, body systems and organs that were once capable of cleaning out unwanted elements are now completely overloaded which led to plenty of unwanted elements to stay in our bones and tissues So, without optimal function of those organs such as liver and kidneys, we humans will quickly suffer unpleasant illness that can be encountered by eating a balanced diet and avoiding intake of toxins. With the increase of more unhealthy goods and foods many people around the world tend to support their bodies with artificial remedies. Currently, many kinds of detoxification arise such as green tea, smoothies and detox exercises all of that is only to support our systems in removing unwanted elements inside our bodies. (Langenbrandt, 2023).  HOME REMEDIES TO SUPPORT DETOXIFICATION. Supporting our bodies to detox is very important, but it must also be done by safe and healthy means. FAIDA ZA KUTEMBEA KILA SIKU KWA AFYA YA MWILI

Kutembea kila siku, hata kwa muda mfupi, kunaweza kuboresha afya ya mwili na kuboresha hali ya maisha kwa ujumla. Zifuatazo ni baadhi ya faida za kutembea kila siku: 1. UCHORAJI WA TATTOO

By Debora Mwangosi Kuchora tattoo kuna maana tofauti kulingana na tamaduni na watu binafsi. Mara nyingi, ni njia ya kujieleza, kuonyesha maadili, au kumkumbuka mtu muhimu. Katika baadhi ya tamaduni, tattoo zinaweza kuwa alama za hadhi au ujasiri. Aidha, zinaweza pia kuwa na maana ya kiroho au kibinafsi, zikihusishwa na safari za maisha au matukio katika jamii. Uchoraji wa tattoo hauna madhara tu, kwa upande mwingine tattoo zinafaida. Kujieleza: Tattoos hutoa nafasi ya kuonyesha mtindo wako wa maisha na thamani zako. Lakini jua kwamba kila mtu atakuwa na mtazamo juu ya tattoo yako siyo wote watakuwa na mtazamo ambao utakupendeza wengine watakuwa na mtazamo hasi. Ukumbusho: Zinatumika kukumbuka watu muhimu au matukio maalum katika maisha. Kila mtu ananjia yake ya kuweka kumbukumbu aidha kwa mtu, au tukio fulani. Lakini kwa kizazi hiki watu wengi sana hususani vijana wanapenda kutunza ukumbusho kwa kuchora tattoo ya tukio hilo. Kujitambulisha: Inaweza kuwa alama ya utambulisho wa kitamaduni au kikabila. Mfano mzuri tattoo aina ya kijamii [tribal tattoo] hizi hutambulisha mtu kuwa anatokea sehemu fulani kama vile ukiona mtu kajichora usoni alama za kiutamaduni basi moja kwa moja anaweza jua asili yake ni mmakonde hivyo hivyo kwa makabila mengine ambao wanatambulika kwa tattoo. Kukuza sanaa: Ni njia ya kuonyesha sanaa na ujuzi wa wabunifu wa tattoo lakini pia kukuza sanaa maana uchoraji wa tattoo ni moja ya sanaa na kuna watu wanajipatia kipato chao katika maisha kupitia uchoraji wa tattoo kwa watu. Kwenye faida basi madhara hayakosekani. Hapa kuna baadhi ya madhara yanayoweza kutokea kutokana na kuchora tattoo: Maumivu: Mchakato wa kuchora tattoo unaweza kuwa na maumivu, tofauti na mtu mmoja hadi mwingine. Na maumivu hutofautiana na aina ya tattoo ambayo unataka kuchora kuna aina zingine hazima maumivu makali ila kuna zingine maumivu yake ni makali kupelekea hata wengine kuishia njian. Na hapa inategemea na kwa namna ngozi itaenda kupokea mabadiliko hayo kwa vifaa vinavyotumika ni vinatumia umeme, hivyo ngozi inakuwa hatarini kupata madhara yoyote. Dhihirisho la Kijamii: Katika baadhi ya jamii, tattoos zinaweza kuathiri nafasi za kazi au maoni ya watu wengine. Na asilimia ya kazi nyingi sana hawavutiwi na watu wenye tattoo kwasababu kwa namna moja ama nyingine  inaweza kuharibu picha ya taasisi. Lakini pia kwa upande wa jamii wazee wetu wanaamini uchoraji wa tattoo ni uhuni hivyo basi wanapomwona mtu kachora tattoo basi jamii inamtafsiri tofauti kidogo.            “Vijana wanaelewa na kuthamini mabadiliko haya, na hivyo wanachangia kwa kiasi kikubwa katika ongezeko la tattoo. Sambamba na hayo vijana tuwe makini sana na mabadiliko ya utandawazi siyo kila kitu cha kuenda nacho maana kuna vitu utashindwa kufanya kwasababu ya makosa ambayo ulifanya kwasababu ya kuendana na utandawazi”. Nini taswira ya jamii juu ya kuchora tattoo. Taswira ya jamii juu ya kuchora tattoo inategemea sana tamaduni, mazingira ya kijamii, na historia ya eneo husika. Hapa kuna baadhi ya mitazamo tofauti: Katika baadhi ya jamii, tattoo zinaweza kuzingatiwa kama ishara ya hadhi, ujira, au umuhimu wa kitamaduni. Ni sehemu ya mila na desturi. Katika mazingira mengine, tattoo zinaweza kuonekana kama alama au uhuru wa kujieleza. Hapa, mtu anayechora tattoo anaweza kuonekana kama mwenye mtindo au jasiri. Hivyo basi mtu mwingine anakuwa huru akiwa na tattoo Katika baadhi ya tamaduni, kuna mtazamo tofauti wa tattoo kati ya wanaume na wanawake. Kwa mfano, wanaume wanaweza kupewa uhalali zaidi katika kuchora tattoo kuliko wanawake wakiamini kuwa kwa mwanamke kuchora tattoo ni uhuni katika jamii. Katika mazingira ya kitaaluma, baadhi ya watu wanaweza kuangalia tattoo kwa jicho la hasi, wakiona kuwa zinaweza kuathiri nafasi za kazi au uhusiano wa kitaaluma. Kutokana na athari hii inapelekea watu wengine kuchora tattoo kwa kificho isiweze kuonekana mbele ya watu. Wengine wanaona tattoo kama fomu ya sanaa na ubunifu, wakiheshimu uwezo wa wasanii wa tattoo na umuhimu wa kisanii katika maisha ya mtu. Na wengine wanaamini ni kazi kama kazi zingine katika jamii. Msimamo wa jamii unaweza kubadilika kwa wakati, huku mabadiliko ya mtazamo wa kisasa yanaongeza kukubalika kwa tattoo katika jamii nyingi. Utandawazi unavyokuwa inapelekea kukuwa kwa kasi sana, Kwa nini kundi la vijana linaongoza katika kuchora tattoo? Athari za Utamaduni wa Kisasa: Vyombo vya habari na mitandao ya kijamii vimeongeza umaarufu wa tattoo, na vijana wanaona wanavyoweza kuiga mitindo kutoka kwa wasanii maarufu. Ukuaji wa utandawazi unasababisha sana vijana kuiga vitu na kujaribu na kwa miaka inavyozidi kuendelea uchoraji wa tattoo utakuwa wa kawaida sana. Jamii inayokuzunguka: Vijana wengi huwa wanachora tattoo kutokana na jamii ambayo inamzunguka labda jamii anayoishi ina watu ambao wanapenda kuchora tattoo hii itamuhasisha kijana na yeye achore kwasababu ataona ni moja ya jamii hiyo. Motisha kutoka kwa watu maarufu: Watu maarufu wengi hususani waimbaji wa nyimbo wanafuatiliwa na vijana hivyo kutokana na mapenzi hayo hupelekea kijana kuiga kuona ni moja ya maisha kuchora tattoo labda pengine anaweza akavutia jamii kama wasanii wengine. Kwa ujumla, vijana wanaelewa na kuthamini mabadiliko haya, na hivyo wanachangia kwa kiasi kikubwa katika ongezeko la tattoo. Sambamba na hayo vijana tuwe makini sana na mabadiliko ya utandawazi siyo kila kitu cha kuenda nacho maana kuna vitu utashindwa kufanya kwasababu ya makosa ambayo ulifanya kwasababu ya kuendana na utandawazi. Karne tunazoziendea ni lazima tuwe makini sana kwasababu vijanan watagemewa sana katika shughuli za kijamii lakini pia taifa kwa ujumla tukishwa kuchambua utandawazi ambao unabadilishwa kila siku taifa litakosa watu makini na uhodari wa kuongoza.
